The Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital at Easton donated $100,000 to UM Memorial Hospital Foundation to support the purchase of a new cardiac ultrasound machine, the GE E90, and two other pieces of equipment for the Heart and Vascular Center at UM Shore Regional Health. Raised through proceeds generated by the Auxiliary’s thrift and consignment shops (The Bazaar at 121 Federal Street and Maggie’s Gift Shop) as well as special event sales, these funds will be added to the 2019 Year End Appeal to help make the purchase.

“This machine takes cardiovascular ultrasound to a new level,” says Dr. Bruce Helmly, cardiologist with UM Shore Medical Group-Cardiology. “It will better evaluate narrowed or leaking heart valves, causes of murmurs, chest pain and shortness of breath. The GE E90 is especially beneficial for patients with diverse body types and complex medical conditions.”

“The volunteers of the Auxiliary of UM Memorial Hospital work tirelessly to achieve our annual goals that support the work of the hospital and its community.  The monies raised from The Bazaar, Maggie’s Gift Shop, the annual Tree of Lights, and various vendor sales go directly to the hospital and we are pleased to me make this donation to help purchase state-of-art equipment for our community,” said Liz Hannegan, Auxiliary president. “Volunteering in one of our services, from the newest Cuddling program, to the Bazaar, gift shop, Cancer Center and more, is a satisfying and worthwhile mission for our members.”

The Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital at Easton raises funds for equipment, programs, services and patient care at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton and various outpatient locations throughout UM Shore Regional Health, including the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center, the Cancer Center and various rehabilitation facilities. The Auxiliary is all-volunteer 501(c)3  organization whose members’ service hours support patient care programs and services. The Bazaar at 121 Federal Street shop offers gently used designer and non-designer clothing for the entire family, shoes, fashion accessories and small household items. Maggie’s Gift Shop, located inside the main entrance of UM Shore Medical Center at Easton, is staffed exclusively by members of the Auxiliary and offers a variety of unique gift items, jewelry, books, cards, holiday-themed decorations and snacks.
