Live music, crabs and pulled pork, cash bar and a silent auction are among the attractions planned for the upcoming 5th Annual Fishing Tournament to benefit UM Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Peggy Bank Fund. The tournament is set for Sunday, September 13, 2-5 p.m. at Lowe’s Wharf.

“This is a great tournament for the boats and crews that participate, but also a great afternoon for those who enjoy good food & music and seeing boats bring in their catch for competition,” says Patty Plaskon, coordinator of oncology social work for the Cancer Center at UM Shore Regional Health. Those interested in attending as a spectator may reserve tickets ($20 per person in advance, $25 at the door) by calling Carol, 410-820-6800; those wishing to enter a boat and crew in the tournament should call 410-745-6684.

The Peggy Bank Fund was started in memory of Peggy Shaw Rosato by Peggy’s husband, Dr. Ed Rosato, and friend Shelley Abbott. In Peggy’s spirit of love and hope, the fund helps cancer patients in time of crisis; contributions are allocated to assist cancer patients on the Mid Shore who are in financial hardship with a variety of expenses, including utility bills, transportation costs, dental care and other care needs. The Peggy Bank Fund is an account of UM Memorial Hospital Foundation.
