Palliative Care Team at Dorchester Recognized as Everyday Heroes
The Palliative Care team of UM Shore Regional Health was recently recognized by UM Memorial Hospital Foundation for the outstanding care provided to a patient in the Palliative Care Suite at UM SMC at Dorchester in May, 2014.
According to Graham Lee, Vice President of Philanthropy, the Palliative Care Team was nominated for this recognition by the family of the patient, who was cared for in one of the two Palliative Care suites on the hospital’s 2-East unit. Represented by Kate Gallagher, the family made a gift honoring the staff’s exceptional professionalism and responsiveness to the patient’s care needs, and also the compassion and comfort all team members provided to visiting family and friends as well to the patient.
Also honored in this presentation were several staff nurses, respiratory care technicians, certified nursing assistants and Environmental Services staff members serving patients in 2 East at UM SMC at Dorchester.
